Mother's Day Flowers

My husband and I really believe in “curb appeal.” Unfortunately, right now, our home has none. With the onset of spring, flowers bloom as well as weeds. Bloom probably isn’t the correct verb to use when making reference to weeds. These weeds -- vines – are coiled around our fence. What little flowers that sprouted are gone, as they have fallen prey to the weeds and their destruction.

Until we tackle our curb appeal issue, if I want to see pretty flowers, I’ll have to purchase them. But, I won’t buy any flowers until after May 9, Mother’s Day. I suspect that friends and family will send me flowers for Mothers Day. My husband typically sends me flowers from 1-800-flowers.

I anticipate the floral smell and admiring the beauty of pretty flowers for the upcoming holiday.

Order Flowers in Time for Valentine’s Day

There are some gifts that will always remain timeless, particularly to women: jewelry and flowers. Both are sentimental and extremely appealing to the eye. I cherish my wedding ring and band from my husband as well as my plastic Bratz bracelet and ring from my twin preschooler boys.

I also treasure the flowers that my husband routinely sends me. He recently sent me an assortment of roses from 1800flowers.com at work. The roses lasted a long time and were simple to care for. For that reason, along with the affordable price and shipping timeliness, we both use 1800flowers whenever we order flowers or baskets.

1800flowers is offering many packages, just in time for Valentine’s Day this Sunday. To order from 1800flowers, you can visit: www.1-800-flowers.com. Happy shopping!

Send Twilight Valentine’s Day Flowers with 1800flowers

I saw the movie "Twilight" last year and absolutely loved it. So, of course I saw "New Moon," the second movie in the series, opening night. The third movie in the series, "Eclipse," doesn’t come out until June of this year. While I wait, I’ve been reading Stephanie Meyers’s Twilight series books, which the movies are based on. I’ve read Twilight so far and I’m on the last few pages of New Moon. Both books were ten times better than the movies, and the movies were really spectacular. Yes, I am hooked!

My husband smiled and thought of me when he found out that 1800flowers was selling Valentine’s Day packages inspired by Stephanie Myers’s Twilight series. Some of the Twilight Valentine's Day flower packages come with roses, Twilight chocolate bars, a postcard, gift card, and poster. My husband occasionally sends me flowers and always uses 1-800-flowers.com. MSNBC recently singled out 1800flowers for their greater pricing transparency and more honest pricing polices than their competition.

New Jersey State Flower: Violet

Each of the 50 states and several United States territories have designated an official tree and flower. Many of the state flowers are actually trees as well. Some states have chosen the same species as state tree and as state flower. All of the state trees, except the Hawaii state tree, are native to the state in which they are designated. Many of the state flowers are from other parts of the world and were chosen because of their beauty or importance, not because they represent the natural flora of the state they represent. Some states have designated a state wildflower, as a symbolic native species.

The state flower for New Jersey is the violet. I wonder if you order flowers online, like from 1800flowers.com, if violets are more abundant in New Jersey? To order flowers online visit: www.1-800-flowers.com.

High-Tech Websites

Websites are becoming more and more sophisticated. I’ve noticed that businesses generally have high-tech websites, but non-profits, community and religious-based organizations also have advanced websites. RENEW International is a Roman Catholic ministry that has a sophisticated website.

Not only is it complete with a member login capability, but it also has information in English and Spanish. You can shop online, join its online community to receive a monthly newsletter, and donate online. One of the features I personally like the best is the site map. It’s very helpful to have a list of pages on the website accessible to users.

To check out RENEW International’s website, you can visit: www.renewintl.org. For the past three decades, RENEW International, has been helping over 150 dioceses in the United States to foster spiritual renewal in the Catholic tradition.

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers

Last week I received the prettiest flowers from my husband. Was it our anniversary? No. Was it my birthday? No. They were “just because” flowers. I love receiving flowers for holidays and special occasions, but “just because” flowers are by far the best.

The flowers that he sent me were from 1800flowers. The arrangement consisted of a dozen roses in an assortment of colors: yellow, orange, fuchsia, and coral. My husband was content with the service from 1800flowers. The flowers arrived at my job in the timeframe that he expected.

The packaging kept the flowers fresh. It’s been almost a week and they’re still blossoming. To order from 1800flowers, visit: www.1-800-flowers.com.

Social Networking Sites on the Rise

Social networking sites focus on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities. Such sites allow users to build online profiles and share information, pictures, blog entries, music clips, etc. It’s no wonder social networking sites are on the rise, including MySpace, FriendWise, FriendFinder, Yahoo! 360, Facebook, Orkut, and Classmates.

Another social networking site, created by Andrew Wilshire, is called Blue Goose News. Andrew Wilshire’s site is different from the aforementioned sites because it’s actually a combination of a social network and comprehensive business news and interaction tool.

In Andrew Wilshire’s own words: “Blue Goose is the town meeting of the digital age. It’s an interactive warehouse of user-generated news and solutions where responsible citizens collaborate globally for a better tomorrow. Blue Goose creates the ultimate neighborhood one community at a time.” For more information visit: www.bluegoosenews.com.
